Samosa Critics At It Again

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

Samosa critics are at it again!

They are trying to push the latest Hindi release as a 'success' with headlines like 'film opened well' and the blah!

Critics that don't report collections of any Hindi film, reported daily collections for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (even before Sunday ended) - hailing 'below-average' collections as 'extra-ordinary'; of course, their reason of reporting is more than just Samosa!

Just like producers that feed cinema are doing a dis-service to the film-industry; these samosa critics are doing dis-service as well - by calling a failure, success.

Here is the occupancy of 11pm show, 15-minutes before the show, five-people in a 240-seater auditorium. This is Day 1 of the so called success; one can well imagine the fate from Monday onwards!

Point is, why do production-houses want a 'flop' film to be called a 'success' - why do they want to change the reality to a favorable perception.

Answer is investors. No investor invests in a lose-making or flop venture; so the producers go all out to call their flop film, a success.

Case in point: Gangs Of Wasseypur; the film was perceived to be a success; but years after its release, in 2017-2018, Anurag said in an interview, he didn't get any money for GOW because studio said it was a loss making proposition. Point is why didn't the studio or Anurag correct the media or news-outlets, when precious ink was spilled singing glories of GOW, when it was initially released.

Answer is simple, it is all business!

Baaghi 4 Trailer Packs A Solid Punch

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

Many films don't have any shame in announcing unabashedly that they are mainstream masala entertainers for the masses. The trailer of Baaghi 4 promises it.

The female audiences might not like the violence in the trailer; the fact is after a long time, a trailer promises meat in the film.

While action scenes and few songs have already caught up; if the script is right, the film will keep everyone associated happy.

The only problem is clash with The Bengal Files, which will again open well. I already stated one of the films could have moved ahead to enjoy the full potential of the movies. In any case, on the fact of it, both films look 'hits'; of what proportion, content will decide.

Param Sundari l Not Just A Review

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

Writing again, is what makes this Sundari not as Param as it ought to be!

Param Sundari starring Janhvi Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra is a love-story bordering on drama; that honestly put, is just about average.

The audiences just saw a masterpiece in the genre, Saiyaara and a total downer in the genre, Dhadak 2 - Param Sundari hangs, just few notches above Dhadak 2.

The basic premise of the film is the love story of the love-birds belonging to, two different cultures. It is about the way they bond, the conflict, and the resolve - with a not-so-perfect beginning, middle and end.

Janhvi Kapoor is ok; while Siddharth Malhotra has his timing out in a few scenes. Rest of the cast is ok.

Other than writing, camera-work could have been better. Music passes muster. Tushar Jalota's direction is average. Production-values are very good.

In the zone of Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video, Dhadak 2, Satya Prem Ki Katha, if you liked these films you might enjoy the film, else you will do yourself a favor to skip it!

Business-wise, thanks to the under-performance of War 2, it should do average to below-average in the 1st week; because Monday onwards collections will be tough and there will be many cancelled shows. Second week will see hardly any collections because there will be hardly any shows left in the cinemas.

Press Release l Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) today convened the Regional Conference of Skill Ministers – Kaushal Manthan in Chandigarh, a landmark dialogue aimed at deepening collaboration between the Centre, States and Union Territories on the future of skills and entrepreneurship. Guided by the vision of the Prime Minister’s mantra of skilling, reskilling and upskilling, the conference, chaired by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, brought together Skill Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officers and policy leaders from across North India.

The conference witnessed participation from State/UT Governments of Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

At the heart of the conference was the recently approved ₹60,000 crore National Scheme for ITI Upgradation and Setting up of Centre of Excellence for Skilling, which seeks to transform 1,000 Government ITIs into world-class institutes of excellence through a hub-and-spoke model, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The transformation will be led by industry-led special purpose vehicles.

The scheme was discussed alongside other flagship initiatives such as PMKVY 4.0, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme and Jan Shikshan Sansthan, with participants emphasising the need for stronger alignment with State-level programs and regional industry demands. The agenda also covered innovative financing mechanisms like the Skill Impact Bond, the restructured Model Skill Loan Scheme, and integration of vocational training with mainstream education under NEP 2020 through credit frameworks and apprenticeship-embedded degree programs.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Jayant Chaudhary underscored the importance of coordination and convergence. He said, “India’s aspiration to become the skill capital of the world depends on our ability to work in true convergence. Each State has unique strengths, but only by pooling resources, aligning strategies, and engaging industry as equal partners can we transform our ITIs, empower our youth, and create an ecosystem where skills lead to jobs, entrepreneurship, and dignity of labour. Kaushal Manthan is not just a conference—it is a call for united action to make skilling aspirational and impactful for Viksit Bharat@2047.”

“All our skilling schemes today are designed to be flexible, transparent, and accessible. NAPS offers complete flexibility for apprenticeships specially with the new revised Apprenticeship Portal, while the new ITI Upgradation scheme with cluster-based mapping and a 5-year plan will ensure long-term impact. But let me stress — skill development is not just the responsibility of the government; it is also for students to step forward and seize the best opportunities.

We must start recognising language as a skill, and even sports as a skill, because tomorrow’s economy — from manufacturing to the sporting industry — will demand it. The future lies in convergence, and through it, we are preparing a workforce that is aspirational, future-ready, and globally relevant,” he further added.

The proceedings witnessed participation of Ministers across various select States including Shri Aman Arora, Cabinet Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training, Government of Punjab; Shri Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister for Technical Education & Industrial Training, Higher Education & Languages and School Education, Government of Punjab; Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Cabinet Minister for Industries, Food and Supplies, and Environment, Forest & Wildlife, Government of NCT of Delhi; Shri Rajesh Dharmani, Cabinet Minister for Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, Government of Himachal Pradesh; Shri Gaurav Gautam, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Empowerment & Entrepreneurship, Sports (I/C), Law and Legislative, Government of Haryana; Shri Kapil Dev Aggarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education & Skill Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The conference also saw the presence of Shri Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) & Vice Chairman, National Apprenticeship and Sports, Skill Planning & Entrepreneurship Policy Making. In her opening address, Ms. Archana Mayaram, Economic Adviser, MSDE, stressed upon the collaborative and convergent approach enabling effective implementation of the Ministry’s schemes and the programmes.

Punjab outlined its reforms across ITIs, including Centres of Excellence and new-age trades. Haryana highlighted initiatives like the Drone Didi scheme, dual training systems and the establishment of India’s first Skill University. Jammu & Kashmir shared the ambitious Mission YUVA initiative that is set to generate over four lakh employment opportunities through grassroots entrepreneurship, while Uttarakhand detailed its Centres of Excellence and partnerships with industry leaders such as Tata Technologies and Hero to create an Industry 4.0-ready workforce.Their interventions enriched the dialogue, ensuring that the discussions were rooted in the realities of diverse geographies and economic contexts, while reinforcing the spirit of cooperative federalism in driving the skilling agenda forward.

The conference concluded with a shared commitment from all participating States and the Centre to prepare comprehensive State Action Plans, deepen partnerships with industry, and leverage digital platforms like the Skill India Digital Hub for transparency, scale and measurable outcomes. • Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha says, “Ayurveda Day has grown into global movement since 2016”
August 26, 2025, New Delhi - For the first time since its inception in 2016, Ayurveda Day will be observed on a fixed date i.e. on 23 September – every year, as notified by the Government of India through a Gazette Notification issued in March 2025. Earlier, Ayurveda Day was celebrated on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras). The decision to assign a fixed date marks a historic shift, giving Ayurveda a universal calendar identity and enabling greater participation at the global level.

Announcing the theme for this year’s celebration – “Ayurveda for People & Planet” – the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, said, “Ayurveda is not just a healthcare system, it is a science of life rooted in the principle of harmony between the individual and the environment. By designating 23 September as Ayurveda Day, India has given Ayurveda a global calendar identity. The 2025 theme, ‘Ayurveda for People & Planet’, reflects our collective resolve to harness the full potential of Ayurveda for global wellbeing and a healthier planet.”

The Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, stated,“Since its inception in 2016, Ayurveda Day has emerged as a global movement celebrating India’s traditional knowledge. The first all-India NSSO survey reaffirms that Ayurveda is the most commonly used system of treatment across both rural and urban areas. The 2025 theme underlines our commitment towards advancing holistic health and ecological balance.”

The 9th Ayurveda Day (2024) was a landmark in India’s healthcare journey when the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated Phase II of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, launched four Centres of Excellence in Ayurveda, and introduced the nationwide “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” campaign along with other health-related initiatives worth about ₹12,850 crore.

The celebrations will include awareness campaigns, youth engagement programmes, wellness consultations, and international collaborations coordinated by the Ministry of Ayush and its institutions. Notably, activities in around 150 countries were organised in 2024 on Ayurveda Day, reaffirming Ayurveda’s growing global reach.
