Kevin Costner to play lead in Disney's 'McFarland'

Fresh from the accolades he drew for his portrayal as Clark Kent's earthly father in "Man of Steel", Kevin Costner has been signed to play a high school track coach in Disney's "McFarland."

According to reports the film revolves around a real-life track coach who created a championship team in a predominantly Hispanic town in California after the young athletes defeat. Disney is yet to announce a release date for "McFarland".
 
 
Costner, already on a high, after his recent wins; an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for his portrayal of 'Devil' Anse Hatfield in The History Channel mini-series "Hatfield & McCoys", will next be seen with Chris Pine and Keira Knightley in Paramount's "Jack Ryan," scheduled to open on Christmas 2013.
