Very recently, the writer was invited to few fashion shows, that served as the curtain-raiser to the coveted Milano Fashion Week. For the unversed, Milano Fashion Week is one of the 'Big-4' fashion weeks, that make or break, many a career!
Milano Fashion Week, officially organized by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, is held 4-times in a year. September edition is dedicated to womenswear. The industry is abuzz, as is the press & media, that the final day of Milano Fashion Week 2026, September 28, is entirely digital.
Officially, there are 90+ events planned, featuring around 60 runway shows - 54 physical and 6 digital - showcasing women's ready-to-wear collections. The week is anticipated to kick off with major spectacles, including Vogue World: Milano on September 22, alongside heavyweight presentations from houses like Prada.
Unofficially, there are many shows happening on the sidelines of Milano Fashion Week, starting right from curtain-raisers that kicked-off a month early - August 21 onwards. These unofficial curtain-raisers are a perfect launch-pad for upcoming designers. Designers of Indian origin, Ankeeta S and Lavanya K, showcased their designs at a curtain-raiser jointly organized by them.
