The worst affected industry worldwide by Covid-19 has been cinema. Even as businesses are limping back to normalcy, slowly, there is no respite for cinemas. The latest Hindi release Bellbottom is the best example of the extent of business affected. As per trade experts, during normal times, the weekend business would've easily been in the range of 50 to 60 crores instead of the now reported 10 crores.
May be owing to this fact major films have postponed their releases. KGF Chapter 2 has been moved to April 22, 2022 from the earlier date of September 9, 2021. Reports suggest that the SS Rajamouli biggie, RRR too has been shifted from it's initially planned October release to Eid 2022. Tadap that marks the debut of Ahaan Shetty has been shifted to 2022 as well.
Will the cinemas return to normalcy post-covid? Well the writer had predicted way back in March 2020 on National television that they will return to normalcy but only by 2023 till then enjoy the films on OTT.
