Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will embark on a State Visit to Mauritius from March 11 to 12, 2025, at the invitation of Mauritian Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that PM Modi will attend Mauritius’ National Day celebrations on March 12 as the Chief Guest, marking his first visit to the island nation since 2015. During his visit, Prime Minister will call on the President of Mauritius and hold bilateral talks with his Mauritian counterpart.
PM Modi will also engage with members of the Indian-origin community and inaugurate two key projects
- Civil Service College
- Area Health Centre
These both projects, constructed with India’s grant assistance. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit, further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Mauritius also plays a crucial role in India’s “Security and Growth for All in the Region” (SAGAR) vision, highlighting India’s strategic commitment to the Indian Ocean region.
As part of the celebrations, a contingent of the Indian Defence Forces will participate, accompanied by a ship from the Indian Navy, underscoring the deep strategic and defense cooperation between the two nations.
