If you thought, it was only Bollywood actors that were cocooned in their onscreen-image earning them the tag of 'typecast', think again! Very recently Hollywood diva, Kate Hudson opened up on her misery of getting 'typecasted' - a tag, a situation, she hates.
Kate made a statement - they love to put you in a box - they obviously are the film-makers of Hollwood, be it studio or indie. Kate further revealed her dissatisfaction with being typecast by Hollywood, - lamenting that her talent is getting wasted, as she is increasingly being confined to similar romcom roles.
Kate also revealed the other perspective - one may think that the actor has carved out a niche, or gotten too cosy in their comfort zone and has a particular preference only. But sometimes it may just be out of compulsion - obviously referring to the 'same kind' of roles she is approached to fill in.
Hailed often, as one of the best in ‘rom-com' genre - thanks to blockbuster hits like Bride Wars and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - Kate feels her face became synonymous with the romcom genre, which in turn, severely restricted her to explore other genres or roles, as producers approached her only for rom-coms.
Kate says she has mixed feelings about this situation - it feels good to be recognized, but I want to do a million different things.
