Even as Alia Bhatt turned heads around (did she?); as she walked the Red Carpet for the Opening Film of the 2026 edition of the coveted Cannes Film Festival; the buzz amongst the Cannes-astes was, will the diva of Indian cinema; will that one person that put Cannes firmly ingrained in the psyche of India's who's who, Aishwarya Rai, walk the Red Carpet at the 79th Edition!
While experts aver she will; L'Oréal, the brand that got Aishwarya Rai to Cannes every year - raised many eyebrows by excluding Aishwarya Rai from their teaser campaign of the brands presence at Cannes - setting many tongues wagging.
Whether Ash walks the Red Capet or not - is not the point. The point is, who will fill the iconic shoes with which, Aishwarya Rai left indelible footprints on the Cannes Red Carpet - so much so that the big '3' - THR, Screen and Variety featured only Ash, and almost never, any other Indian actress.
