Fast & Furious 6 has lived upto the expectations of Universal it seems! For, though the film opened to mixed reviews, the box-office numbers prove that the ardent fans are still in love with the franchise. Fast & Furious 6 crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office, which is the fastest for any film in the studio’s (Universal's) history.
To date, the film has
made $180.3 million in North America and $342.2 million
internationally. The film has been number one at the domestic box office
for the past two weeks and including a Memorial Day run where it
grossed $122 million over four days.
No wonder, Universal is planning a seventh installment next year itself! However, James Wan will take over from Justin Lin as director; but a majority of the main cast is expected to return. The film is scheduled to go into production next month and will open worldwide on July 11, 2014.
