Power of Yes over No

By: Surbhita Harchand Gupta

Have you ever noticed most relationships start with a simple "YES".
We all have sets of 'yeses' in our lives.

Can you remember all our "yeses" are the first steps to start any sort of connection.
The thrill after saying yes. Either while falling in love or a new job which you prayed for and so badly wanted!

Can I buy you a drink?
Would you like to go out sometime?
Can I kiss you?
Will you marry me???

It all starts with a positive "Yes"

Yes is something which is more than a statement. Many times just a single yes is what we pray for. That the power of this simple three letter word, "Yes".

Many psychologists tend to give this exercise to people to make them understand it's impact.

How you feel when you read this (a set of YES):

YES

YES

YES

YES

YES

YES

and how do you feel when you read this (a set of NO):

NO

NO

NO

NO

NO

Pause for a minute and notice; for each "NO" we feel scolded, sad, alone and even get a sinking feeling; we don't want to read too many No's.

The base of a sound relationship is doing things together and getting all the things to yes.

Will you dream with me?
Will you create with me?
Can we do things together?

This is how one can create compatibility; moving and getting things to a "yes"

Most negotiations break down because parties are focused on their differences. We are mostly trying to protect our territories. We don't want to talk and till we don't say yes to communicate we can't sort things out.

It's not that a relationship has to be concerning merely your love-life. It might even concern your professional life. A positive 'yes' in office, used with a co worker or with a boss to get things on track.

If we start looking for yes everywhere, in our house, on the road, in our offices, every nook and corner, it may open doors to ideas and opportunities you may not have considered.

Let's not burn the positive fire in each and every person around us. Let's ignite a positive flame and let everyone grow. Let everyone become something they have always dreamed to. More or less every person has to live a life.

It's our choice how we live our life; with a positive approach 'yes' or with a pessimistic approach 'no'.

So why not try it out, did I hear an overwhelming "Yes" !!
