Not Just A Review l Tere Ishq Mein

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

The only Anand L Rai movie I liked was Tanu Weds Manu; so I went to watch Tere Ishq Mein with zero expectations - irrespective of the fact that the trailer was very well-received.

And I was in for a big surprise, Anand gets it right for the entire film, except for the climax - I feel it could have been better, much better!

Having said that the film is worth a dekko for it's performances particularly Dhanush, Kriti Sanon and Tota Roy Chowdhury. The screenplay has many layers in the narrative unanswered probably the creative team wanted it that way.

Tere Ishq Mein might not give you the high of Saiyaara, for the simple reason Saiyaara was an exceptionally brilliant movie; but it will surely have it's own fan-base among the audiences in times to come, that is for sure.

Unlike the media-hyped movies, this one is surely worth a watch.

IFFI 2025 l Ulka Mayur's Where The Heart Is Capture Hearts

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

  • Ulka Mayur's heartwarming film, Where The Heart Is, true to it's title, warmed up the hearts of both the audiences as well as other filmmakers attending IFFI 2025.
Speaking exclusively to Bhaarat Bol News, the team talked about the Marathi language film, which is, one of the official selections, Indian Panorama section, IFFI 2025.

Mayur Puri is a prominent name in Bollywood; naturally then, when he produces a film, it is bound to pop-up eyeballs; not only in the festival-circuit, but film-industry as well.

His latest production is mid-short documentary 'Where The Heart Is', when asked if he produced the film because his wife, Ulka Mayur, was helming it; Mayur laughed-off any hint of nepotism, "c'mon buddy she is very talented and I am not saying this because I am her husband, but the fact that she is an acclaimed multi-dimensional artist".

Ulka elaborated on the journey of the film from concept to production. "I had a very interesting doc on migration, with an aspect as yet unseen on screen, so when I decided to produce it, it was natural Mayur too joined in".

On being asked what made her feel that her labor of love will connect with the audience, Ulka said, "Where the Heart Is, follows the protagonists' annual journey from Mumbai to his ancestral village for the Ganapati festival, capturing the warmth of reunion and the shifting realities of migration, through the eyes of Umesh Garate. The homecoming of the Garate family is reflected in the film through emotions and finer nuances like belonging, memory, and the quiet transformation of rural homes".

About the response film generated at IFFI, Mannan Shaah, music composer and co-producer, echoed the sentiments of Ulka and Mayur, "it’s heartening to see the film generating such positive buzz on the festival circuit".

The film had its international premiere at the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) in Toronto with other festival screenings at Kolkata International Film Festival and the Jagran International Film Festival, "our premiere in Toronto was truly special, and the response in India has been just as encouraging. I am truly honoured by the love of the audiences across continents", gushed a visibly excited, Ulka, as a very supportive, Mayur Puri smiled, both for his director and his wife!

IFFI 2025 l Girish Malik's Mahamantra Enthralls

By - Amit kumaR Agarwal

One of the most talked about films at 56th IFFI was ‘Mahamantra: The Great Chant’ directed by Girish Malik.

Lauded for it's visual tapestry, the film is touted as bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern crisis.

Speaking exclusively to Bhaarat Bol News, much-awarded film-maker, Girish Malik, better known to 90's generation from the blockbuster hit, 'Shola Aur Shabnam' said that the response at IFFI, "can't merely be described in words. you had to be there to feel the high the team of Mahamantra had".

Mahamantra features narration by Padma Shri, Brigadier Dr. Arvind Lal, music composed by Grammy-nominee Bickram Ghosh, and vocals by Padma Shri-awardee Shubha Mudgal.

To add to its laurels, Mahamantra: The Great Chant, made the cut to the first shortlist for the 98th Academy Awards in the Documentary Feature category, coinciding with its world premiere as a Special Showcase at IFFI Goa 2025.

The 75-minute English-language film, was crafted over the years - marked by global turbulence - from pandemics and war to climate anxiety and social upheaval.

The film is described by Girish as a cinematic meditation, "for a world grappling with meaning and purpose. You see all around, he world is almost on the brink of a war. It is very important to get back to our roots. Mahamantra  offers ancient solutions to modern problems".

The film was earlier presented during the Berlinale at the European Film Market, where audiences loved the way the film fused Vedic philosophy, contemporary science and urgent social commentary.

Girish says that "critics have already described the film, having a deep emotional connect; a cry from the soul”.

The film, produced by Girish Malik, marks a departure from his previous films because this time around, his film tackles themes that draw parallels between Shiva’s cosmic dance and modern scientific theories, while incorporating references to historical figures like Oppenheimer and Einstein.

Adding the much-needed depth to the philosophical exploration is famed tabla maestro Bikram Ghosh, whose credentials include four Grammy-nominated albums.

Ghosh’s score aims to enhance the film’s blend of Japanese Butoh and Indian classical dances.

The treatment of the film has a global connect and appeal, "this is because I present the “Om Namah Shivaya” mantra, not merely as a religious invocation but as a living, breathing force capable of reshaping our very essence, our very being, ringing in world peace", gushes Girish.

On being queried, if he sees the film as being a cult-film over the years, Malik smiled and says, "Mahamantra delves into the very heart of Shiva’s cosmic dance, weaving it with the strategic brilliance of Krishna during the ‘Mahabharata,’ and even the moral plight faced by figures like J Robert Oppenheimer and beyond. So I won't be surprised if the film creates a cult-following in the historical-annals of cinema”.
