Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra gains momentum in Meghalaya

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) is gaining momentum in Meghalaya, with villagers from various blocks enthusiastically engaging with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans. These vans are travelling to the interior villages, spreading awareness about the advantageous schemes offered by the Centre. At the event, beneficiaries thronged the IEC Vans and actively interacted with representatives from various central government departments, banks, and oil companies, seeking information on bank loans and the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

At East Khasi Hills District, the IEC vans covered two villages each in Pynursla, Mawpat and Sohiong blocks. Efforts were taken to provide services of the several government schemes as  well as raise awareness on the benefits of such schemes to the beneficiaries with the help of NABARD, Krishi Vikash Kendra, Gas Company, National Fertiliser Company Limited and other government agencies.

Similar programmes were also carried out at Umlangshor & Mukhla Nongrim Gram Panchayats under Thadlaskein Block of West Jaintia Hills district. Several beneficiaries gathered at VBSY site where the representatives of various government departments briefed them about the beneficial schemes of the centre.

These IEC campaign vans showcased a comprehensive overview of flagship schemes and programmes spanning nine years, drawing numerous beneficiaries who shared their perspectives on the government's initiatives. Calendar 2024, pamphlets and booklets containing information about various development and welfare schemes for the people were also distributed on the spot.

The Yatra, which started on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (November 15, 2023), aims to deliver essential services to all eligible beneficiaries, ranging from sanitation facilities, financial services, electricity connections, housing for the underprivileged, food security, nutrition, healthcare, clean drinking water, to quality education. The focus is to create awareness and ensure the last-mile delivery of benefits.

Press Release l CAQM decides to revoke Stage-IV of revised GRAP

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR & Adjoining Areas (CAQM) decides to revoke Stage-IV of revised GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect. Delhi’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) clocked 319 as per the daily AQI Bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In view of significant improvement in the average air quality of Delhi-NCR, the Sub-Committee for operation of actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR & Adjoining Areas (CAQM) met today to review the current air quality scenario in the region as well as the forecasts for meteorological conditions and air quality index made available by IMD/ IITM and also take an appropriate call on the stringent actions under Stage-IV of GRAP already in place in the entire National Capital Region (NCR) since 05.11.2023. While comprehensively reviewing the overall air quality parameters of Delhi-NCR, the Sub-Committee observed that Delhi’s average AQI clocked 405, which started declining and showing improvement since late evening of 17.11.2023. Further, the air quality forecasts by IMD/ IITM also do not indicate any steep degradation in the overall air quality of Delhi-NCR in the coming days.

Therefore, keeping in view the prevailing trend of air quality and forecasts for meteorological conditions and air quality index made available by IMD/ IITM and also the disruptive nature of restrictive actions under Stage-IV of GRAP impacting a large number of stakeholders and public at large, the Sub-Committee for operation of actions under GRAP unanimously decides to roll back Stage-IV of revised GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect. Actions under Stages-I to Stage-III of the GRAP shall however remain invoked and be implemented, monitored and reviewed by all agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further to the ‘Severe’/ ‘Severe +’ category.

The Sub-Committee in its earlier meetings had invoked actions under Stage-I, Stage-II, Stage-III and Stage-IV of GRAP on 06.10.2023, 21.10.2023, 02.11.2023 and 05.11.2023 respectively. The Sub-Committee in today’s meeting reviewed the air quality scenario in the region as well as the IMD/IITM forecasts for meteorological conditions and air quality index of Delhi and observed as under:

The GRAP is an emergency response action plan invoked with a view to arrest further deterioration of adverse air quality scenario in NCR.

Restrictions under GRAP Stage-IV are disruptive and impact a large number of stakeholders and public at large.

In wake of Delhi’s AQI falling ‘Severe+’ Category (AQI >450), the GRAP Stage-IV actions were invoked on 05.11.2023 based on AQI.

As the present AQI level of Delhi is around 322 (Very Poor) recorded at 2:00 PM which is about 128 AQI points below the threshold for invoking the GRAP Stage-IV actions (Delhi AQI > 450) and preventive/ mitigative/ restrictive actions under all Stages up to Stage-IV are underway, there is a likelihood of sustaining the improvement in AQI. The forecast by IMD/ IITM also do not indicate any steep degradation further.

Various agencies responsible for implementing measures under GRAP and Pollution Control Boards (PCBs) of NCR and DPCC have also been advised to ensure strict implementation and intensification of actions under Stage-I, Stage-II and Stage-III of the revised GRAP in the entire NCR. Further, the Commission appeals to the citizens of NCR to cooperate in implementing GRAP and follow the steps mentioned in the Citizen Charter under GRAP.

The sub-Committee shall be keeping a close watch on the air quality scenario and may take appropriate decisions depending on the air quality, as recorded from time to time, and the forecasts made by IMD/IITM to this effect.

Myth vs. Facts

Media reports claiming that an estimated 11 lakh children in India missed their 1st measles vaccine dose in 2022 are ill-informed and inaccurate. A total of 2,63,63,270 children out of the eligible 2,63,84,580 children received their 1st dose of Measles Containing Vaccine in FY 2022-23

Several initiatives have been undertaken by the Union Government in coordination with States to ensure that all children receive all missed/due doses of Measles Containing Vaccine
Posted On: 18 NOV 2023 11:58AM by PIB Delhi

There have been some media reports alleging that an estimated 11 lakhs children in India missed their 1st measles vaccine dose in 2022, according to a report published by the World Health Organization and US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

These reports are not based on facts and do not reflect the true picture. These reports are based on the estimated number reported under WHO UNICEF Estimates National Immunization Coverage (WUENIC) 2022 report which covers the time-period from 1st of January 2022 to 31st of December 2022.

However, as per the HMIS of Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, a total of 2,63,63,270 children out of the eligible 2,63,84,580 children received their 1st dose of Measles Containing Vaccine (MCV) in the FY 2022-23 (April 2022 to March 2023) and only 21,310 children missed their 1st dose of Measles Containing Vaccine (MCV) in 2022-23.

Besides this, several initiatives have been undertaken by the Government of India in coordination with the States to ensure that all children, either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated receive all missed/due doses of Measles Containing Vaccine (MCV):

The catch-up vaccination age for the administration of Measles Containing Vaccine (MCV) has been increased from 2 years to 5 years in the periodic immunization intensification activities.

Intensified Mission Indradhanush, (IMI) 3.0 and 4.0 were carried out in 2021 and 2022 to vaccinate all unvaccinated/partially vaccinated children with missed/due doses of vaccines. Besides this, IMI 5.0 was carried out in 2023 with a special focus to increase the coverage of MR vaccine in children up to the age of 5 years.

MR campaign was carried out in Delhi and West Bengal wherein all children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years (9months to 5 years in Delhi) were vaccinated with campaign dose of MR vaccine. The coverage of both the States reached >95%.

Several States have carried out Supplementary Immunization activities and outbreak response immunization wherein a total of 30 million children have been vaccinated with an additional dose of MR vaccine.

A Special Advisory on Outbreak Response Immunization was shared in November 2022 which clearly stated that One dose of MRCV has to be administered to all children aged 6 months to < 9 months in areas where the measles cases in < 9 months are above 10% of the total measles cases to not miss any child.

The Non measles Non rubella (NMNR) discard rate is >5.8%, the highest achieved so far for the country for the current financial year, indicating a robust surveillance mechanism in place.

India’s unstinted commitment to ensure that every single child of the country is vaccinated with vaccines under Universal Immunization Programme has been recognized globally. India’s exemplary leadership and inspiration in the Regional Measles and Rubella Programme has been highly appreciated and recognized by the Measles and Rubella Partnership comprising of multiagency planning committee including the American Red Cross, BMGF, GAVI, US CDC, UNICEF and WHO.

The Measles and Rubella Partnership Champion Award is scheduled to be conferred on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in March 2024, at Washington DC.

PRESS RELEASE l PRESIDENT OF INDIA GRACES AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu graced an International Conference cum Exhibition on ‘Aerospace & Aviation in 2047’, organised by the Aeronautical Society of India to commemorate its 75th Anniversary,  in New Delhi on November 18, 2023.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that from its humble beginnings in 1948 till today, the Aeronautical Society of India has worked tirelessly to ensure that not only the aeronautics as a knowledge-system grows by leaps and bounds, but it also impacts life of every citizen in a substantial manner. She appreciated all for their outstanding contribution to the advancement and dissemination of the knowledge of aeronautical sciences and aircraft engineering that has made the aeronautical profession as one of the most sought-after and glamorous careers.

The President said that aviation is a remarkable feat of human ingenuity that brings the imaginative power to reality with seamless fusion of technology. Aerospace and aviation are simultaneously humbling and almost superhuman activities that afford us the vast global connection of the planet we inhabit and exploration of space and beyond.

The President said that as we celebrate the journey of the Aeronautical Society of India, we cannot help but marvel at the achievements and breakthroughs our nation has made in the fields of aviation and aerospace, space technology, missile technology and aircraft technology. Whether it is the feat of successful completion of the Mars mission or showcasing the end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving near the Moon's South Pole - a place considered beyond human endeavour, India has proved that it has the willpower, potential, and capacity to accomplish what it sets out to achieve. The highest standards of quality, cost-effectiveness and punctuality have been the hallmarks of all of our projects.

The President said that though we have made long strides, there also remain many challenges. The aerospace sector has been undergoing a transformative phase by bracing up for speed and runway-independent technologies for defence purposes, air mobility and transportation. There is also the demanding task of cultivating human resources well-versed and ready to tackle these issues in right earnest. At the same time, there is also a need for upskilling and reskilling of the current workforce.

The President said that the decarbonization of aero-propulsion is an onerous task we will have to undertake because climate change and global warming are threatening the very existence of humans. She stated that the development of sustainable jet fuels is one of the much-needed steps to decarbonize the economy but it is hardest to achieve because traditional fuels are of very high density. Finding non-fossil sustainable resources which could replace these traditional fuels should be the priority objective because we are approaching a climate tipping point. To reduce our carbon footprint, we need to rapidly adopt new propulsion technologies at a large scale, such as electric, hydrogen, and hybrid. She expressed confidence this Conference would provide valuable solutions to many of the challenges.

Thank You For Coming l Not Just A Review

By: Amit KumaR Agarwal

Great trailer doesn't guarantee a great film!

Karan Boolani directed Thank You For Coming is such a yawn-yarn, you wonder were the media reports @ film wowing TIFF really true?

There have been much better films both in terms of performance and narrative in the west, particularly European-arthouse. In fact, many episodes in the film are directly inspired by many films from the genre that is very popular in the European festival circuit.

This brings us to the very important questions, why do Indian filmmakers fail film after film to deliver. The first reason is an incoherent script. The dialogues of Thank You For Coming are written to raise laughs, its another matter though they hardly raise even a chuckle.

The screenplay is repetitive and the issue of protagonist's single mother is raised too frequently.

Bhumi Pednekar has serious limitations as an actress and it comes to fore in the film. It is left to supporting cast to perfect the act; thankfully few in the cast have performed very well - Dolly Ahluwalia, Dolly Singh, Pradhuman Singh and Gautmik.

The film will initially be pushed by the fantastic trailer and curiosity, though if te makers are looking at 'Veere di Wedding' kind of returns they will hugely be disappointed just like the audiences. In the end, an apt title would have been 'Thank You For Not Coming'.

Jawan l Storyline. Is it?

By: Amit KumaR Agarwal

Jawan. What is the storyline?
While many in the trade and audience are mulling over it. Here is what www.Bol-News.com feels should be the storyline of Jawan, which was predicted few months back, after seeing Deepika Padukone for the first time in the teaser!

While few in the industry are of the view that Jawan is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan's mega-hit "Aakree Raasta". It is only a matter of five-days when the picture will be clear.

Plausible Plot

Jawan essentially is the story of avenging the wrong done to the character of Deepika Padukone. A vigilante in the forest area of India, she is accused of being a naxalite by the corrupt in collusion with the character of Vijay Sethupati. Character of Shahrukh Khan, an officer, is sent in to capture her. But once on the field Shahrukh realizes the ground reality that Deepika is in fact doing good.

Love blossoms between Shahrukh and Deepika. They have a kid or twins who grow up to be Shahrukh(s).

Deepika is killed or captured. If captured, she goes missing from the film and only come towards the end.

The father Shahrukh, wants to avenge Deepika, with the help of a girl-team; these girls were mentored by Deepika. In this fight against Vijay Sethupati and his baddies, the biggest conflict is his son Shahrukh and his love interest Nayanthara.

There could be a possibility of Shahrukh doing a triple role. In such a case, father and one-son will be avenging Deepika and the second son will try to stop them.

Another possibility is that the father too dies or is captured with Deepika and both the brother Shahrukh's work hand-in-glove to avenge. One brother feigning the father's get-up.

Irrespective of the double-role or triple-role of Shahrukh, the basic plot will be the one mentioned above.
