Reportedly, Armenia, USA and France are the top three buyers of Indian Defence Exports. As per the official sources, in 2023-2024, defence exports from India clocked up a whopping US$ 2.6Billion (INR 21,083 crores).

Experts attribute this surge in exports to the two-pronged Indian government's policy of Aatm-Nirbhara Bhaarat (self-reliant India) and Make In India.

Reportedly India is exporting to around 100 countries and within a span of less than a decade there has been a multifold boost to India's defence exports.

Singham Again v/s Bhool Bhulaiya 3 - The Marketing Blitz

By: Amit kumaR Agarwal

Marketing today is simple: Bigger the Brand, Bigger the Marketing Spend.

In this flash-flip-memory world, where you have 100-options in a flip of a second, marketing consistently and constantly is very vital to stay in public memory.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has scored on this count, as ever-since it's trailer released, there are two articles daily about the film on a leading national daily's website. One can well imagine the review the film will get!

Are the makers of Singham Again missing out on the strategy, because there is not a single article on Singham Again on this national daily's website. Or are the makers of Singham Again simply confident that their film will be lapped up by the audiences.

Frankly, the writer feels that in this age of in-your-face marketing where even superstars ensure that there is one article on them every alternate day - Singham Again ought to spruce up their marketing ante - why?

For, one reason, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has probably the most influential distributor of Hindi films today, A.A. Films. If reports are to be believed, the single-screen distributors are already 'influenced' to screen BB3.

Having said that Singham 3 marketing team ought to catch-up to keep the film relevant with audiences, with only about five days left for the big clash!

Indian Railways & Ministry of Women & Child Development launch Revised SOP for the Protection of Vulnerable Children

By: Amit kumaR Agarwal

The safety of women and children remains a top priority for the government. While appreciating crucial contribution of Indian Railways in making Rail travel safe for women & children, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has assured the Railways that funding will not be a constraint for its efforts in making the Rail travel safe for women and children. In a landmark initiative to protect vulnerable children found on railway premises nationwide, Railway Protection Force (RPF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, has launched an updated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi on 25.10.2024. This comprehensive SOP outlines a robust framework for safeguarding children who come into contact with Indian Railways.

During the launch of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Anil Malik, Secretary, MoWCD, praised Indian Railways for its initiatives to enhance the safety and security of juveniles through measures like installing CCTV and face recognition technology at upgraded railway stations. With over 2.3 crore passengers traveling by rail each day, including 30 percent women—many of whom travel alone—there is a pressing need to safeguard vulnerable groups, especially juveniles who risk exploitation by human traffickers. At the event, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) briefed MoWCD officials on the importance of reinforcing Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) and urged states such as Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh to establish these units at their railway stations to prevent trafficking and enhance passenger safety.

RPF is undertaking a very proactive role to make sure that its premises are not used by human traffickers to abet the transportation of child. RPF has rescued 57,564 children in last five years from trafficking. Out of them 18,172 were girls. Further the force made sure that 80 percent of these children were reunited with their families. Under the ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’, RPF has introduced a series of focused initiatives to secure safety of children throughout the railway network. Recognizing the continuing challenge of child trafficking, RPF’s “Operation AAHT” has also been instrumental in rescuing over 2,300 children and apprehending 674 traffickers since 2022. The achievement underscores RPF's relentless dedication to combat trafficking and exploitation.

To safeguard vulnerable children nationwide, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit were to be set up in about 262 stations across the country. But due to lack of cooperation from some Indian states, AHTUs could not be set up there. Secretary, MoWCD agreed to write a letter to these states as a prompt step in this direction. The MoWCD will write letters to these state governments and District Magistrates to set up this unit in the railway stations of the concerned states so that efforts of Railway Protection Force will be made more & more successful.

The Railways is running, “Operation Meri Saheli” for protection of single lady travelling in trains. While appreciating the contribution of RPF in Anti human trafficking activities, Secretary, MoWCD, said that our Ministry is ready to spend fund for the projects aiming at protection of women too. The Government of India had set up a dedicated fund called ‘Nirbhaya Fund’ for implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security for women in the country. Money can be given from Nirbhaya fund to install CCTV cameras & face recognition system in the stations across the country so as to stop crime against women.

Looking forward, Indian Railways and MoWCD announced expansion of Child Help Desks (CHDs) at major railway stations, strengthening the support network available to children in need. New initiatives and collaborative strategies to ensure the well-being of both children and women within railway premises were also discussed.

With a fresh slogan being released for RPF, "Our Mission: Prevent Child Trafficking on Trains," the Indian Railways reaffirmed its pledge to make railways safe travel experience for all. The revised SOP factors in learning accumulated in last one decade while dealing with the human traffickers. Reflects the unwavering commitment to creating a protective, compassionate environment across its extensive railway network, RPF DG said that keeping the welfare of India’s children is at the core of new SOP.

The enhanced SOP reinforces Indian Railways’ commitment to prevent child exploitation and trafficking by providing a safety net for at-risk children who may have been separated from their families. Originally rolled out in 2015 under Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and updated in 2021, this SOP has now been further refined following MoWCD's 2022 “Mission Vatsalya,” detailing the roles and responsibilities of railway personnel to identify, assist, and properly document children until they are connected with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Director General, RPF, Manoj Yadava said we are aligning closely with the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act while addressing the pressing need for child protection in the railway premises. Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO, Railway Board, Anil Malik, Secretary of MoWCD, Ravinder Goyal, Member Operations & Business Development, Railways Board and other senior officers from both the Ministry were present in the SOP launch event.

North-East is Now Centre Stage in Our National Story, stresses VP

By: Amit kumaR Agarwal

The Vice-President today said, “The North East is now centre stage in our national story”, emphasizing the growing prominence of the North East region in India’s national narrative. He remarked, “We are seeing a phase of Purvodaya that was never imagined, even by the people of this land.”

Dhankhar emphasized that the transformation of the North-East is a testament to the spirit of inclusion driving India’s progress. “For decades, this region faced challenges relating to development and connectivity, but today it has become a true priority,” he observed, reflecting on how the region’s development is advancing rapidly each day.

Addressing the gathering at the 21st International Conclave of Krishnaguru International Spiritual Youth Society at College of Veterinary Science, Guwahati today, the Vice-President said, “The three principles that will help you as a part of the transformation mechanism in our country are: in any situation, do not distance yourself from spirituality. Krishnaguruji has taught the path of spirituality, and straying from this path would be a mistake. Along with this path, keep in mind nationalism, modernity, and technological development. When these three combine, as has been mentioned here, and as was recorded many years ago — the status of being a ‘Vishwaguru,’ the greatest economic power in the world — no one will be able to stop it; it rests on your shoulders”, he said.

The Vice-President praised the impact of Krishnaguruji's teachings, saying “Krishnaguru ji embodies the essence of divine grace, illuminating the hearts of his devotees with his teachings of love, service, and humanity.” He further emphasized the teachings of KrishnaGuruji, who encouraged everyone to “think beyond yourself, think for the community, think for the nation.” He highlighted that India is a unique country, “whose geography is dotted by centers of spirituality,” reinforcing the nation’s legacy of compassion, unity, and dedication to the welfare of all.

The Vice-President further highlighted the inherent qualities of spirituality, urging the promotion of values that lead to harmony and justice. He remarked, “Remember, my friends, that spirituality has some inbuilt qualities: love, compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, and a sense of responsibility. As we promote these values, we sow the seeds for a peaceful and just world."

The Vice-President reflected on India’s history of resilience and selfless service, particularly in times of crisis. He remarked, “Throughout our history, we have been given many opportunities. Our great leaders and spiritual figures have always supported us in times of crisis, providing a culture where, whether it be the COVID-19 pandemic, an earthquake, or any other calamity, our temples and spiritual centers have come forward to provide relief to the people.”

Reflecting on the significance of India’s ancient texts, he continued, “What do these scriptures — the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Vedas — remind us? That action should be guided by a higher purpose, benefiting not only ourselves but also others and our communities. This message resonates deeply today.”

The Vice President also elaborated on the evolution of India’s foreign policy concerning the East. “The vision of Look East, which originated in the mid-90s, was transformed by Prime Minister Modi into a more impactful dimension with Look East-Act East. This means that Bharat began engaging more deeply with South-East Asian countries,” he said. He highlighted that through the Look East-Act East policy, India has significantly strengthened its engagement with South-East Asian nations, enhancing the strategic and economic importance of North-East India.

“Because of this Look East-Act East policy, where we are reaching out to the countries of South-East Asia, the North-East has earned a place of prominence. Today, North-East India is becoming a place of opportunity,” the Vice President added, underscoring the policy’s transformative role in shaping the North-East as a vibrant and thriving region.

Dhankhar expressed pride in the increasing recognition of the Northeast’s distinct identity and cultural heritage. He remarked, “There is growing acknowledgment of the unique identity and culture of the Northeast. Recently, we witnessed a proud moment when a long-standing need was fulfilled with the recognition of Assamese, alongside Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit, as one of India’s classical languages.”

The Vice-President noted that this is a significant milestone for Assam saying, “This recognition will further enable Assam to share its rich cultural heritage and vernacular tapestry, extending its influence and cultural wealth throughout the country.” He added, “This region’s unalloyed beauty creates an atmosphere of peace conducive to introspection and meditation, allowing a deeper exploration of spirituality and a greater appreciation for the interconnectedness of life.”

In conclusion, Dhankhar also shared key statistics that reflect the scale of transformation: “In the last 10 years, the central government has invested 3.37 lakh crore rupees in this area. These are not just numbers; they signify a tangible footprint of roads, railways, and airports, as well as improved connectivity.”

Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor, Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister, Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Govt. of India, Pramod Boro, CEM, BTR, Bhaktimatri Kuntala Patowari Gowsami, Kamala Gogoi, President, Krishnaguru International Spiritual Youth Society and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Current Employment Scenario In India - An Analysis

Contributed By: Anshika Pandey (Student Mass Comm Contributor)

The current employment landscape in India is going through rapid changes because of various economic, technological and social factors.

As of current time, India is the fifth largest economy in the world and remains the world's fastest-growing economy, and it is advancing at a brisk pace of 8.2 percent. The extreme poverty has decreased; however, in recent years the speed of poverty reduction has been slowed, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic; but post-pandemic, the correction has since slowly sped up from 2021–22.

Let's talk about employment and unemployment in India. As you may know, India surpassed China as the most populous country in the world, according to the UNFPA's State of the World report. You can probably imagine how things stand right now.

The main question is what is India's employment and unemployment rate?

Reportedly, India's employment rate is 37.8% as of September 2024, while the unemployment rate is approximately 7.5%.

Unemployment is a significant issue that continues to influence the economic landscape of India.
Is employment still a challenge in 2024?

The response is both yes and no. Because no wonder the reasons are interconnected, like the rapid technological advancements, which involve mechanization and artificial intelligence, which day by day replace traditional jobs while creating problems for some people who are unable to adapt, and the uncertainty impact by global events such as pandemic - the major issue, lack of skilled work-force and political unrest in certain states, which continues to hamper job growth.

Furthermore, living costs and material mores are also a major block with many switching jobs frequently. Job dissatisfaction and underemployment, also affect to employment. These challenges or problems reveal the critical need for robust workforce development initiatives, policies, and laws that help to support job growth and skills enhancement and should at least do something for them who deserve to be paid according to their skills and experiences.

Reportedly, unemployment has led to an increase in youth suicide rates in India over the past six years, primarily due to depression and anxiety. Of course, there are various counseling sessions that people can seek help from.

The Indian government has taken a very pro-active action towards providing employment; and working tirelessly towards addressing these challenges through various initiatives. Make in India, Skill India, Entrepreneur drives and programs are such initiatives that strive to improve job prospects, create a supportive and enhanced employability, and foster a business-friendly ecosystem.

A subset of people say that the unemployment problem in India is not due to the lack of jobs rather than the quality of the jobs that are on offer. A headhunting CEO on condition of anonymity said that the problem is not the jobs - the problem is finding the right fit both for the employee and the employer.
