Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), with its mission to pitch Goa as a hot-spot for film-making is organizing a Cine Workshop. 64 film enthusiasts have enrolled for this workshop so far. Five important modules of film making viz. Screenplay Writing, Acting, Cinematography, Editing and Direction will be covered under this workshop.
The workshop will feature eminent film personalities from Indian Cinema like Shaji Karun (Direction)- who won the President's medal on passing out from the Film and Television Institute of India in 1975. Karun is an internationally acclaimed Indian Film Maker and Cinematographer from Kerala whose film "Piravi" has won many International and National Awards including Camera O'dor at Cannes Film Festival, other award winning films of his are Vanaprastham (1999) and Kutty Srank (2010).
Javed Siddiqui (Screenplay)- started his career in films as a Dialogue writer and Special Assistant Director to Satyajit Ray in ‘Shatranj ke Khiladi’, His major hits are ‘Chakra’, ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Baaghi’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Raja Hindustani’, ‘Pardes’, ‘Soldier’, ‘Jab Pyar Kisi se Hota Hai’, ‘Taal’, ‘Fiza’, ‘Zubeida’ ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. He has won awards like FilmFare Award, the Screen Award for Raja Hindustani and Baazigar, the B.F.J.A. award for Umrao Jaan and Andhra pradesh journalist association award for Fiza, and the most prestigious Awadh Samman for his contribution towards Films and Plays, and most coveted Ghalib Award (2007) for his unparallel contribution to theatre.
Sudhir Mishra (Direction) -Acclaimed Indian Film Maker and Screenplay Writer, most renowned for directing critically acclaimed films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Dharavi and Chameli. He has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for Dharavi , Filmfare Best Story Award for Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (French Government) France's knighthood - equivalent to the "Sir" title of the British.
Rahul Dholakia (Direction) - is an Indian film director-producer-screenwriter, most known for his National Film Award winning film, “Parzania” (Heaven & Hell On Earth) (2005), prior to which he also made documentaries like Teenage Parents and New York Taxi Drivers.
Vipin Sharma (Acting) - is an Acclaimed Actor, a graduate of National School of Drama, New Delhi, and the Canadian Film Centre, Toronto, Canada. His first major role was as Nandakishore Avasti in Taare Zameen Par. For his role, he was nominated for the Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor (in 2009).
Sanjay Chouhan (Screenplay) – acclaimed Indian Film Maker whose films like "Perzania" won National Awards , other films to his credit are Dhoop, Hazaron Kwhahishein Aisi, Karam, Siskiyaan, Big brother, Bombay Cutting, Dhuaan, I AM KALAAM.
Prof. A.S. Kanal -Professor of Cinematography, for more than 15 years, has taught Cinematography & Television Production Techniques, at the Film & TV Institute of India. As a Cinematographer has his projects, two feature films for director – Vinod Ganatra, two feature films for director Jayashree Kanal, four feature length films for director Vishal Bhandari, two Malyalam feature films for director Ravi Guptan , Ad films for Kailash Surendranath till 1978, one TV serial `Raj se Swaraj’ for director Amal Allana, Tele-films / short films for directors Sai Paranjpye, G.S.Chani, Tanuja Chaturvedi.
Rajen Kothari (Cinematography) - Blue Oranges, Well Done Abba!, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero and an array of films to his credit.
Rama Chandra Halkere (Cinematography)- films like God Lives in the Himalayas, Dweepa, Thai Saheba to his credit.
Cine Workshop will be held from 7th to 30th June 2011, 11.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. till 4.00 p.m. at Maquinez Palace Auditorium.
The main aim of this workshop is to empower film enthusiasts with the instruments to create a film, the Entertainment Society of Goa, in its eager to develop and promote a Film Culture and has created seven verticals, like a film club- Goa Cinephile Club, FilmGoa- for the convenience of shooting films in Goa, various Workshops, a bouquet of Film Festivals are curated, as a backup reference we have created a Digital Archive and Film Book Library, Film Finance Scheme to provide assistance to Goan Film makers, Short Film Center to encourage young talent.
