Since taking the lead role in Abbas Kiarostami’s 10 in 2002, Mania Akbari has emerged
as one of Iran’s most distinctive filmmakers. Her ideas and imagination
challenge the cultural-political context in which she makes her films.
Her journey in films and her artistic endeavors has taken her to prestigious film festivals across the globe.
This July (2013), the BFI Southbank will be screening a retrospective of her
remarkably fresh, audacious and relevant work so far. Other than her other films, the retrospective will also include her
latest film "From Tehran to London".
