Social media has changed everything and transformed communication, which becomes a necessary part of daily lives for people platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. There are many media platforms where people can connect and interact and share things with each other even across the borders in no time. It is used for personal work as well as for business purposes like advertising and driving marketing efforts, etc., and has various benefits.
Social media comes with both pros and cons anyway; everything has its own plus and minus points in this universe; nothing has only positive or negative effects.
Let’s talk about cons first.
The first question that comes to mind whenever I think about this is: is social media safe today for anyone? Despite the fact that it’s he or she?
So there are a lot of cases where you can see that people are using social media to harm others and also used to mislead people.
Let’s dive into the recent case in India that involves the spread of misinformation about judicial proceedings. Because of this, the Supreme Court has raised serious concerns about false information circulating on social media, especially where misinformation influences public opinion of the judicial system.
This misuse has prompted the court to examine tighter regulations to curb the spread of misinformation on legal issues and ensure responsibility.
So there is one more recent activity of individuals in which they are showcasing weapons and criminal activities on the Instagram platform. It increases the need for monitoring and addressing the encouragement of violence online with the government and judiciary considering more stringent measures to prevent such issues and maintain public peace.
Social media impact is unquestionable. It shapes public opinion and changes the way we consume information. With platforms evolving, new features like live streaming, short videos, etc. have become standard to keep users engaged.
The future of social media may be heavily influenced by advancements in virtual reality, and mainly artificial intelligence will likely shape the future of social media, making it a more essential part of our everyday experience.
So for the sake of humanity, just be kind and look after others online and help them if they need it. Going through a genuine problem, you may save someone's life online and be a savior, not a destroyer. We already discussed the pros of this in the introduction, so we should better think about the cons of this so we can make a secure place for future generations to come.
