India’s leading steeplechaser, Avinash Sable, is on the lookout for a new coach after a disappointing 11th-place finish at the Paris Olympics. Sable readily accepted that 2024 was among his worst sporting years.
At the Paris Olympics, though, Sable became the first Indian steeplechaser to make the final, but his 11th-place finish disappointed the Indian sports lovers.
It may be recalled that after failing to make the final at Tokyo Olympics, he had a forgettable World Championships final (8:31.75) in 2022 where he finished 11th. One of he highs of his career, were the Commonwealth Games where he finished second; following it up the next year, by becoming the first Indian man to win the steeplechase at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
